In the Year of Our Lord, 2010

PHILADELPHIA, PA / DECEMBER 31, 2009 / DIVERSE NEWS- A.D. or Anno Domini, means, In the Year of Our Lord, I know, you may have thought it meant, After Death. But yes, this is what it is. Many countries, including Moscow and dozens of other countries around the world are already celebrating 2010, which is based on the birth of Jesus Christ.

No matter if people know Him as the Lord or a Prophet, this is what the calendar we use and almost every other country – including Islamic countries – uses to record time.

So, help bring in the New Year with tidings of peace and joy and remember what these years are based on.

Happy New Year!

VA Outsourcing Threatens Jobs for Veterans

WASHINGTON, Dec. 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — In the midst of the great recession, a depressed job market is hitting veterans particularly hard. Unemployment numbers for all veterans continues to hover near 12 percent, but for service members who left the military in the past three years unemployment is 18 percent, nearly twice the national average.

“The way we treat our veterans when they return home is an indication of our national character,” said J. David Cox, AFGE national secretary-treasurer, who was a registered nurse in the VA for over 20 years prior to being elected to the union’s executive leadership. “These brave men and women volunteered, served valiantly, and have to come home to stand in the unemployment line. There is something very wrong with that.”

The high unemployment rate of returning service members has not escaped the attention of the White House. On Nov. 9, President Obama issued an executive order aimed at enhancing the recruitment and promotion of employment opportunities for veterans. The order established a multi-agency “Council on Veterans Employment” and is supposed to develop a strategic plan on how to recruit and employ veterans for federal civilian service. According to the union, however, any plan developed by the Council should address the systemic risk to federal civilian employment of veterans posed by the expanded use of for-profit contractors. Ironically, the VA – the agency that strives to be the model employer of veterans — has contracted out more jobs held by veterans than most other agencies. Read More »

American Legion assisting Fort Hood shooting victims

INDIANAPOLIS (November 23, 2009) – The American Legion’s Operation Comfort Warriors program is donating gift cards to the men and women who were wounded at Ft. Hood earlier this month.

“Americans everywhere have reached out to these victims,” American Legion National Commander Clarence E. Hill said. “It’s only appropriate that The American Legion family does its share. We have sent $3,800 so each of the 38 wounded can receive $100 gift cards to use at the Ft. Hood AAFES (post exchange). This is on top of the $10,000 of electronic games and instruments we sent in Operation Comfort Warriors donations to Ft. Hood just prior to the shootings. These gifts won’t make the injuries go away, but they do show that we care.

“The government does a good job of providing the necessities,” Hill continued. “Through Operation Comfort Warriors we have been able to provide gifts to troops in military hospitals everywhere. These are items that usually don’t appear in government budgets, such as personal sweat suits, I-Pods, DVDs, phone calling cards and other comfort goods. The American Legion is challenging its members and friends to continue giving to those who have already given us so much.”

The American Legion has already raised more than $217,000 for Operation Comfort Warriors since its inception last December. Read More »

‘Same-Sex’ question costs Christian Miss USA contestant crown

A question about homosexual marriage which was preapproved by producers of the Miss USA pageant cost a Christian contestant, Carrie Prejean, the crown.
The ethnicity of the producers and ‘celeb’ gossip writer, Perez Hilton, was not openly disclosed.

With ‘same-sex’ marriage having been promoted in the news as an obvious indoctrination social-conditioning program via Hollywood, it even caused Ms. Prejean to call marriage, ‘opposite’ marriage (see CNN video below):

(Note: watch CNN’s Reggie Aqui’s hand gestures towards contestant)

There should be no confusion as to what to call marriage unless it deviates from the original definition, which is similar to how we refer to bacon:
‘Bacon’ is pork bacon;
‘Turkey Bacon’
and
‘Beef Bacon’.

Marriage‘ = Male & Female (universal legal/cultural acceptance /worldwide)
Same-Sex’ Marriage = Homosexual (limited legal/cultural acceptance)
Child-Marriage‘ = Limited Legal/Cultural acceptance [eg.Semitic/Islamic]

Miss Prejean, as a Christian, did, however, maintain her value-system beliefs for her answer, and though she lost, did not compromise her principles, regardless of media hysteria. Touché
